Idea

Ideas

It is now the start of my project and i have a few ideas.

My first idea is a play. My thoughts on this was to get a few people together to recreate a scene from my favorite play, busgys malone, but as i thought more in to this idea i realized it was asking a bit too much for this project and if i still like the idea but the end of the year i will do it as my FMP. This idea would have to have about 4/5 cameras to get every angle and some that can move so they can get different angles and shot types. My target audience for this would be Females aged 14-25, socio economic group E.

My second idea was to play cluedo and games like this but i realized the show would probably end up a bit boring so i went against this idea. This would include 5 cameras, one over each persons shoulder then another to get shots that are needed. My target audience for this would be women ages 16-25, economic group E.

I have now decided on my last idea although i haven't finalized it, i am going to do research and then finalize my idea so it can fit my target audience. My last idea is to get some people together to play a game and have it seem like a stream/you tube video but more fun.

I have done a lot of research in to good games and i have chosen to have people play Halo Reach as it is a timeless game that lots of people still enjoy although it is almost 10 years old.

My Target audience is people who are aged 16-25, men, socio economic group E, student. unemployed.

examples of my ideas-

This video shows how I want people to have fun like they do but I'm going to have it so their fighting each other and it's going to include their faces and reactions as they play.

This video is more like what my video will look like but less serious and more fun, it will be very similar to this and use some of the same codes and conventions that i will look at in my research.

Things i'm going to add to my show, hide and seek. I have decided to add hide and seek to my recording, this is because of many different factors. the first is in case my footage isn't very good from the tournament, this could be if the footage fails or even if it just isn't very interesting. Another reason is that i thought it would be a fun thing to add to this and it gives the people who do not know the game chance to do good and succeed in one f the games. My thoughts for hide and seek would be to have maybe two or three games where there is four people hiding and two searching, this will be hard to film and will need a different set up but if i plan it well it should go smoothly.

Looking at other multi camera shows.

Dave Gorman's modern life is goodish.

This clip of the show swapped between 3 different camera angles although the show normally have about 6. Would say the demographic of this show is people of so many different ages but I would say it is aimed more towards people about his age so about 35-45, mostly male, social economic group c1/c2.

Always sunny in Philadelphia

This is a clip of the show, I saw around 9 camera angles in this clip but I think it was filmed mulipule times with around three cameras set up each time. The demographic of this show I think is mostly males aged 25-30. social economic group C1/C2.

One Day at a time

In this snippet theres 8 camera angles, I really like how this clip uses different angles and cameras but theres two cameras that are set up to follow characters as they walk through the set. The demographic of this show I would say is young student so people in social economic group E, mostly for females aged 16-25. I would say it's aimed at cuban people as thats what ethnicity the family is.

This is a smaller snippet from in that snippet to show a pan shot being used to show the characters movement, this was better to use than any locked shots as it makes it smoother and it helps the different shots and camera angles to blend in together smoothly.

This is a screenshot of the snippet of a snippet of a snippet of a show, this screenshot shows the shot type mid shot, you can tell its a mid shoot a it shows her hips up but if it was closer it would be a mid close up. Most of this scene is a mid shot but it clips to a lot of close up's to mix it up and make the scene more enjoyable.

Opening sequence

Idea 1

red vs blue

For my opening sequence my first idea is to have something similar to the video below but not quite the same as mine would be more serious and would be mixed with cool aesthetic shots from in the halo reach game. I would have little bits to say all of the names of the people playing and maybe add some shots from in the game.

Idea 2

My second idea is going to be something like what is actually used in major league gaming. I am thinking about having a mix of shots of people playing then it will freeze on each player and introduce them with three facts about them, their accomplishments or their techniques of playing.

This is an example of this.

Idea 3

my final idea would be to mix these last two things, as i am not fully going with the codes and conventions of MlG's i don't think i will follow the codes and conventions with my opening sequence or not fully, i am thinking about having it so there are shots or funny moments from the filming and then have aesthetic shots from halo reach fading through it. i would also have a freeze on each player and say a few facts about the written on screen. This opening shouldn't be over 20/25 seconds.

I am doing idea number three as this one seems to fit the tone of my video more than the others and I think it could be more fun, lighthearted and more enjoyable for my target audience to help them keep concentrated and involved in my video, i wouldn't want them to stop watching a few seconds in although i'm thinking that the opening will come after a brief clip explaining what will be happening in the video in a dramatic way.

  1. you could have a more detailed description of how individual frames are organised in examples of multi camera projects
